New Year! New Possibilities…

There has never been a better time than now (this exact moment in our lives) to act – to take advantage of the opportunities that are staring us in the face.

It’s always this time of year when we resolve to be better, do better, achieve more, etc. and I don’t really know why we only do this on New Year’s Day, when we are quite literally surrounded everyday with new possibilities…  Everyday we have a new and exciting opportunities to make our lives better, our business and personal relationships better, our businesses more profitable, our clients and families more happy…  Everyday we have this opportunity – but we seemingly always lose sight of this fact, but we certainly embrace it every New Year’s Day.

Heck, I’m not even sure if you would have asked me on February 1st of last year, if I would’ve been able to actually tell you my own New Year’s Resolutions…  I can’t help but think that instead of looking for new and exciting ways to be and do better, we fall into the trap of the day-to-day routine (or struggle) and get busy.  I know I find myself “busy” all of the time…  and then the next thing I know, it’s Christmas and now a New Year all over again…

Well, this time it’s going to be different!

It’s going to be different with regards to my own personal resolutions and with regards to my professional resolutions – which is what my first blog-post ever is going to be about…  But, before I get into those, I want to share a (semi-famous) quote from John Van Diest about ways to keep your resolutions:

Ways To Keep Your Resolutions – Quoted from John Van Diest:

  • Write them down
  • Count the costs
  • Make them meaningful
  • Give them priority
  • Be specific and practical
  • Ask someone to keep you accountable
  • Seek help when you struggle
  • Break them into steps
  • Reward yourself after each successful step
  • Keep your eyes on the goal
  • Make them fun
  • and most importantly – PRAY

Now with that being said…  this is a New Year, with New Possibilities and for you, a member of our family of TRS customers, this is my list of New Year’s resolutions as they apply to you:

Embrace Our Customers As Family

First, and foremost, it is important for you to know that we know you are the livelihood of our business.  Heck, we’ve been here over 28 years without ever having a cold-call sales person.  That’s over 28 years of referrals!  And we certainly could not have done that without having wonderful relationships with our customers…

But one place where I know we’ve dropped the ball (and I’m here to pick it back up) is with regards to follow up.  We only sale the most reliable and easy-to-use equipment, so vary rarely do any of our customers have to call us…  We’ve gone years and years without speaking to customers – because in our business, no news IS good news…

But if a few weeks went by and I hadn’t heard from my brothers, I would most certainly check-in…  Every  few months or so I exchange emails with aunts and uncles and cousins so we all know what’s going on.  It’s important to stay in touch with our family… and you are most certainly part of our extended family…

So now, I resolve to check-in with you guys every few months or so as well.  It is important to me that we know how you’re doing, as well!
